Behind the Silver Microphone
Peter Kennedy

Peter Kennedy can be heard on Silver Memories on alternate Mondays and Thursdays, from 7am to 10am. He became involved when he was working on 4MBS reception in 2013, and got chatting with a Silver Memories presenter, Michael Goodwin. This sparked his interest in learning how to announce, and he shadowed Michael for several weeks before going solo in February 2014.
Peter was born in Brisbane and grew up in Wynnum. From a young age, he enjoyed listening to songs and music on the radio. Music has given Peter a wider exposure to the world and also helps him to be a calmer person. From his youth through his early 30s, Peter played the bagpipes and was a member of the High School Cadet Band and the Alice Springs Pipe Band. He likes “middle of the road” music, light classical, music from the 60s as well as Scottish and Irish folk music.
Over the years, he has worked in hospital and aged care administration and payroll. He also worked in QLD, Victoria, NSW, and Papua New Guinea in the years from 1971-1975.
