Behind the Silver Microphone

John Hacking

John Hacking announces the Saturday morning session from 10:00am until 1:00pm, called “Family Favourites from the Sixties”. This program features mainly 60s and 70s music.

John was born in Brisbane and joined the Royal Australian Navy as a junior recruit. He worked on the avionics systems of jet fighters. When he left the Navy, he began a long career in information technology.

John first realised music was important to him in his teens, as he listened to popular music on commercial radio. He enjoys listening to easy listening music from the 60s and 70s, and has music as a background to his work.

John only became involved in radio broadcasting in more recent times, completing an announcer’s course run by 4MBS.
